cheers to my health! part 4: face time

During my quest for chemical free beauty products at the drugstore I stumbled across this at Target across the line:

I was on the mission to find a toner so that I could start washing, toning and moisturizing on a regular basis. Since my 20's Clinique days, I haven't been toning on a regular basis and wanted to try some products and pick out a few reasonably priced ones and start my own beauty regime.

I will be 34 next month and my happy/smiling lines are noticeable so thought it was time to take care of myself a little bit more. I've only been using this product for a few weeks (and not regularly - I am so horrible when it comes to a beauty regime. I either just want to go to bed or I am too tired in the morning) and I definitely already notice a positive difference. The bottle basically says it will help with the oil (I have a dry nose, oily everything else and huge pores so it is a pain in the butt to find something that works) and it will reduce breakouts in 8 hours.

Without getting too graphic, I had this horrible pimple on the side of my chin. You know - those big, painful, under the skin ones that you were SO embarrassed about in high school (side note - Melissa if you are reading this - I am still scarred by Heavy D pointing out a zit on my cheek to the whole class that I thought I was so oh-so-cleverly hiding with my long hair in Mr. Sparks' Social Studies class. Bitch. Okay - I digress ...). Normally it takes weeks for these ones to go away and even though it is faintly there, the redness and soreness were both gone over night.

I'm not endorsed to say anything about any products but for the price (it was under $10.00) it is worth a try if you have any of the same skin troubles as me. If anything changes and something goes horribly wrong I will definitely let you know.

To all my 30-something girlfriends out there ... I would love to hear about your beauty regime and what works well for you! Thanks friends. xo

  1. Sigh. I admit. I don't do much. I wash with Noxzema, and occasionally use an astringent when I'm extra-pimply, and use a face cream with SPF. I try to remember to use a face cream every morning, but sometimes I do forget. And, I have a face cream for at night, but rarely remember to put it on. I should be more proactive in the area.
My mom used products from Avon for years and she had amazing skin!
And BTW, despite your few wrinkles that I haven't noticed (I'll take your word for it) I think you look fabulous. Here's to 34!

    1. Aw - thank you darling :) I really hope I take after my dad's side of the family in the skin department. Those ladies have amazing skin - even my grandmother at 90 ... gorgeous! I am just trying to streamline my regime so it isn't too expensive, it actually makes sense for my skin and it isn't too complicated. Getting there I think! Thanks for the comment.

  2. Oh, Heavy D. How could I forget about her?

I'm a huge Kiehl's fan, but it can get pricey. I use a foaming face wash because everything else is too harsh on my skin. I use a heavier moisturizer at night, as well as eye cream. During the day, I use a moisturizer with SPF.

I must remind myself to do a skin care post -- so important in our 30s!!
