Listening to this audiobook and I am super in love with Tina Fey. Her no nonsense, hilarious take on life is an inspiration and a joy to follow along with. I don't want it to end! Bring on more Ms. Fey - I could use an on-going dose of you in my life daily.

can't wait to try this tonight!

i cannot wait!

life as we know it

I got home a bit late from a work event last night and Chad (and Lexxus) were already in bed fast asleep (I think the OT is catching up to my poor hubby). I always need to take time to decompress after an event or soccer so I popped in the latest movie rental from the library. Super predictable and poor editing but that is to be expected from a romantic comedy - all in all though it was pretty adorable and I love both Katherine and Josh as actors. They are fun and funny which is always a good combo. Not a huge hit due to its predictability but definitely worth an evening in on the couch with some popcorn - but definitely a chick flick (Chad so would have gotten board about a 1/4 way through it).

currents

  • OBSESSION ... Not sure why but I am obsessed with photos of other people's meals on blogs. Love the inspiration and everything looks so yummy. My latest favourite thing when looking for good blogs to follow.
  • DREAMING ... I have been having this on-going daydream that Chad and I win the lottery and buy a winery somewhere in the Okanagan. Chad runs the wine side including the grapes, wine making and tours and I run the event side because there is also a B&B on the premises and enough room for weddings. It could happen right?!
  • THINKING ... About what we should do with our week of in July. For sure heading to meet some friends in Oliver, BC for some camping but hoping to fit in a wine tour or two as well along the way. I know, I know - the wine thing is a common theme in my life right now :)

last night

I came home to find this waiting for me ... thanks babe! Happy 3 years!

chris and bonnie's bc wedding bbq

Travis was so nice to offer us his penthouse to host Chris and Bonnie's BC Wedding BBQ last Saturday, June 18th. The rain held up so that we could have some shenanigans on the patio and we dined on yummy homemade burgers. It was a great way for some of us who were unable to attend their Mexico wedding, to celebrate with the new Mr. and Mrs. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and friendship (and piƱata parties too)!

belated post: canucks loss

This is how we watched Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals - Canucks vs. Boston. Chad hates getting his picture taken some days and this was one of those days. He didn't even stay at my parent's past the second period - just too disappointed to watch.

tonight we dine!

This is waiting in the slow cooker for us when we get home to have for dinner tonight. Instead of beef though I used chicken and made a few other changes. Regardless, it is going to be creamy and yummy! Can't wait to smell the house when I open the front door tonight ... delicious!

this weekend

Friday ...

Chad took me here for dinner. I had a YUMMY rice and seafood bowl that was over the top amazing. Real lobster! The best!

Then we went to Ikea and purchased part of our new bedroom suite. I know, I know - Ikea furniture you ask? Yes! Seriously ... our WHOLE bedroom suite will cost less than the bed frame I would be looking at if I went elsewhere. Every couple needs to start somewhere and this also means that we get to buy a new mattress too! I think that makes Chad happiest of all since the bed we are sleeping on is his from when he still lived at home. So not cool!

Saturday ...

I did some puttering around the house and then we took off to Lee Valley and Winners in Coquitlam and then headed downtown to Travis' penthouse for Chris and Bonnie's at Home Wedding Fiesta BBQ. The evening consisted of yummy homemade burgers and a piƱata :) Fun was had by all and photos are still to come!

Sunday ...

I helped Chad put together our new furniture and then we ran into Langley to do our weekly grocery shopping. Then home for ham and grilled cheese sandwiches and veggie soup for lunch. Then we were off again to visit Jim and Dennis and to deliver some Happy Father's Day treats!

Chad picked up dinner for us and his parents from Fork N' Chopstix Chinese & Western Bistro. I was a little hesitant about the quality of their Chinese cuisine but I must say - it was the BEST Chinese food I have had in a long time. Their deep fried prawns were out of this world!

happy father's day weekend to all the pops out there!

last night

We started watching this ... and we are hooked! Chad finds it hilarious and I find it incredibly brilliant and intriguing. Off to order Season 2 from the library!

I started listening to this on my ipod while taking a bike ride after dinner. I LOVE Betty White and this book is filled with little tidbits that will for sure make you smile and might even help improve your life!

I continued reading this book. I love Sheila O'Flanagan's stories because they are about people who's stories seem to jump off the page. Her characters could be a member of your family or a neighbour - all be it - a neighbour "across the pond" ... but she just writes good stories about normal lives. Always an easy and good read.

I made this for dinner. YUMMY!

it's a sad, sad day for vancouver

Riot Breaks Out After Game In Vancouver

Last night the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Boston Bruins (4-0) in game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Play-offs. They had a great run for the cup and should be applauded for making it as far as they did - Boston just had more heart than they did AND Boston was able to put the puck in the back of the net.

So the Canucks lost - HUGE bummer for Vancouver hockey fans but instead of just going home and getting ready for the 2011/2012 season, the crowd downtown turned the loss into a disaster. It started with flipping portable toilets (with people inside them) and escalated from there into a full blown riot including smashing windows, looting, fighting, flipping cars and setting vehicles on fire.

No one was safe downtown thanks to a full idiots who, most likely even if the Canucks had pulled off a win, were ready to celebrate without any style or respect at all. Such a disgrace for a city that is coming off such a huge high for both the 2011 Winter Olympics and (let's not forget) the Canucks getting the President's Cup at the end of the regular season.

So much to celebrate but it really is true what they say ... a few bad apples can spoil the bunch. I am sure a lot of parent's are hanging their heads in shame today. Were you downtown last night? Were you one of the ones who disrespected other people's property? Were you one of the ones who thought it was cool to steal, break, punch, fight or burn?

All I can say is that if you are one of those people? Karma is a bitch and even worse - a whole city is looking for you today. Good luck with that!

missing!

Please help spread the word about this Missing Langley Teen! Thank you!

last night we watched ...

A story that I don't really think needed to be told by Hollywood and waste of Marky Mark. BUT ... the sister clan was AMAZING and kept Chad and I giggling :) Go Canucks Go!

go canucks go ... game 6

this weekend

  • I had a lovely Friday night Canadian Tire visit/Pho dinner date with my favourite person on the planet. We watched the Canucks win game 5 and I so wanted them to score more goals because I was driving and I really wanted to honk like a crazy woman! Then we went home and watched this movie:

  • I woke up early Saturday to do some puttering around the house and then it was off for a visit with Grandma B. I got to see her in all her active glory during their "exercise/play time" - what a treat. Those older folks sure know how to move :) Then I did a bit of running around in Burnaby and made my way back home in time to pick Chad up (he was working Saturday) and head to Leah and Daryl's for a BBQ feast and the UFC fights. I had my first taste of deep fried turkey and I gotta say - I am hooked! We left early because Chad was pretty exhausted from his week of OT and working on Saturday but we had enough energy left to swing by Dairy Queen for a Peanut Buster Parfait to share!

  • Sunday was laundry day for me and then Travis and Carrie swung by to pick me up and we met Trav's family at the zoo for the JDRF Walk. What a beautiful day for a walk around the zoo and a visit with Travis' adorable niece and twin nephews :) Then home to read my book for a bit and get a nap in. Made perogies for dinner and watched this movie before crashing early to start another work week!

finished ...

Watching ...
This movie was slow in some parts and Anne drove me nuts at some points with her more than obvious acting but how can you not enjoy a movie that is about sickness, health, love, Jake and Viagra?

Listening ...
This is a wonderful story about friendship, family, BFFs and relationships ... and how important those "who matter" in your life truly are when you are up and when you are down. Horribly sad at the end but very powerful. Loved following their journey from teenagers to motherhood and beyond!
