recently ...

I picked this up from the library and could not believe that neither one of us had seen it. I fell asleep but Chad loved it. I watched the end the next day and had some giggles. We both sure do love us some Johnny and Pirates :)

Couldn't resist this little $5 treat when I browsed the almost empty shelves of our Fields store that is closing down in Aldergrove. I started reading it but that quickly turned into just browsing and looking at the pictures. Those ladies sure do make me laugh ... and then I realize how much more money they have than I do and it makes me want to weep a bit - ha ha. Gotta love (and hate) them all!

Just started watching this series. Chad was really excited about it but I am skeptical. I can feel that it is going to get better but will have to watch, wait and see!

Just finished listening to this audiobook and I love her even more. Her essays are inspiring and so raw, so real - it was an exciting way to start and end my work day.

why hello monday!

This weekend was filled with friends, family, reading and watching. Got a lot and nothing accomplished all at the same time. My to do list isn't any shorter but spending time with my niece and nephews is so fulfilling and rewarding that nothing else really matters in that moment. Just love them so much! Did seem to finish some movies and books though ... always feels good to start a new week with a new read!

I listened to this audiobook and every time I thought I might just turn it off, there was a twist in the storyline that kept me listening. I am still a huge fan of Anna Quindlen's but am finding her non-fiction much more enjoyable than her fiction.

Jen Lancaster is by far one of my favourite authors. She is silly, funny and ridiculous - and I love her. Check out her books - you will not be disappointed if you are looking for a fun read and a good laugh. I promise! This is her first fiction novel and it was my favourite so far! Enjoy her!

Such a good performance by Michelle Williams but the story just showed what a tragic and sad little girl Marilyn really was. Quite surprising really how we, as a society, has put this pill popping princess on such a high pedestal. How quickly we judge but how quickly we forget as well.

No words just big, BIG love!

Do not watch this movie. So disappointed - horrible acting and a hard-to-follow story line equals one big hot mess of a movie. Don't do it - consider yourself warned :)

And because I love her and because yesterday was Father's Day and my dad is no longer with us and my step-father and I are in a big of sour place right now and she cheers me right up, I give you Heart ...

Have a wonderful week friends!

i feel this to my core

recently

Hello Friday! We meet again :) I have been on an emotional rollercoaster lately but have been so busy between work, planning our golf tournament and soccer this week that I haven't been able to process much. This weekend is going to be filled with grandma, the twins and catching up. The sun is out right now but it is supposed to disappear for the weekend. Bummer but I have a list to tackle that involves being inside the house so I am slightly okay with that weather forecast.

I just finished listening to these two audiobooks in the car. I stumbled across Anna Quindlen randomly through the library and I am a bit in love. She is creative, she is strong, she is witty and she is easily to relate to. I have enjoyed my first two of her works and can't wait to listen to more!

Oh Heart - how you brighten my day and make me smile - always a delight!

regret nothing

bring on the weekend

This week has been crazy - stressful, hurtful, tiring, exhausting, frustrating - I don't have enough adjectives to describe how I feel. I am at the point where I am just numb and going to take the weekend to process everything. Cheers to a healthy weekend my friends! Enjoy!

random inspiration

Sometimes you come across inspiration randomly that is so powerful and mind-blowing that it floors you and you just have to share the source. Enter Susannah Conway. I came across her blog through another blog that I follow in my Google Reader. She has just released a book (This I Know: Notes on Unraveling the Heart) about her struggles with grief after her partner passed away from a heart attack. I was intrigued and went back into the archives of her blog to read a bit more about her journey. Her story. I am only a few entries in to the start of her blog and I am blown away by how comfortable I feel reading her words. I feel like I am reading a letter from a dear old friend. We already have a ton in common and I can't wait to learn more about her through her blog. She is a delight! Happy reading friends!

another winner

I read "Guts" by Kristen Johnston in two days. This is new for me because I love to read but usually only read a little bit here and there before bed, in the bath, etc. This wasn't a hard read and the font was actually quite large and spread out so it wasn't a huge novel but I just couldn't put it down. It might have something to do with the fact that we are part way through the second season of "3rd Rock from the Sun" so I am fascinated that Sally has a ton of issues in real life. But I just get really into stories about famous people with problems - not sure why but I do. And I thought that the title "Guts" had to do with having guts to get through in Hollywood or something like that. Nope. It has to do with her guts actually exploding while she was living in London doing a play. A quick and honest read that is hard to stomach (no pun intended) from time to time but I would recommend it. She is beautifully honest. Very refreshing and besides, don't you love how an actress playing an alien on TV can also be a drug addict in real life? This world never ceases to amaze me!

you win some and you lose some

Horrible Movie - It was a new release at the library so I put my name in for it and we watched it last night. I think it would have made a much better novel than a movie. I was shocked that we actually watched the whole thing through - I kept hoping that it would end well. It didn't.

Wonderful Book - I love Bethenny Frankel. I think she is the type of woman that you either love or hate - there really isn't any in between with her. I love that she was on Celebrity Apprentice Martha Stewart. I love that she told the other stupid housewives exactly what she thought and that she was on a show about housewives and (at the time) she was single - awesome. I love that she runs an empire (I'm obsessed with successful woman who have multiple levels of their business: Oprah, Tori Spelling, Jessica Simpson, etc.). I love her show with her awesome husband and beautiful baby girl. I LOVE her Skinny Girl Margarita - my go to drink if I don't feel like white wine. And I love her book. It's loosely based on her life but it was such a fun and easy read, I couldn't put it down. She is loud, outspoken, truthful and adorable - and so is her book. LOVE!
