this weekend i/we ...

  • Friday night we helped Ms. Katy move into her new condo. A 2 bedroom, 2 bath number right in my work building - College Court. Hello neighbor! We enjoyed post move pizza and beer/wine while watching and finding out that the Canucks will be playing Boston in the Stanley Cup finals. Went home to relax and started watching this. I am so hooked!
  • I also finished this book ... such a fun and easy read!
  • Saturday morning I woke up early and had a hot bath. Then Chad and I went to Country Lumber to pay for some new doors for our place - family room is almost complete - coming together and I am loving it! Then I took off to Burnaby to visit Grandma B (still in the hospital) and then to meet Team Tara at Metrotown. Did a bit of shopping, visited the new Disney Store and then had a nice sushi dinner. Then got in line to buy tickets to see this movie and laugh our asses off!
  • Sunday I cleaned the house and did some paperwork that I needed to catch up on and then had a lovely visit with my parents and Mr. Travo! Then I made a VERY spicy Indian chicken dish for dinner and settled in to watch this movie. I wasn't sure what to expect and couldn't wait for it to be over but I am still thinking about this morning so I guess that is the whole point to a long-lasting movie.

last night

We watched "Unstoppable" and it was unstoppable action! Chad was on the edge of his seat the whole time. It is based on true events so you know it is all going to turn out somewhat okay in the end but it was still a thrill ride. We saw a preview for this on another movie we watched a while back and then I put in a request to the library and it finally came in yesterday. A great way to spend a Thursday night ... chicken/veggie stirfry, movie and cuddles with Chad and our furry baby.

watching + reading

Not as good as the first one but some of the effects were incredible - a true storybook brought to life. Hated the cousin but he grows on you ... especially as a crying dragon :) Worth a watch for sure!

This is chick lit at it's finest - an easy-to-read and don't-want-to-put down girlie book about love, family and really - nothing at all. I will be ordering some more from Ms. O'Flanagan from the library sooner than later!

just finished

I was just listening along to this audiobook and then BAM - they throw in 9/11 near the end and it just changes the course of all of the characters' lives. Definitely worth a read or a listen!

last night we watched this ...

I did not love but did not hate either ... have you seen this movie before?

future nursery design

I think we will need to build or invest in some bookshelves like these ones for the future ... I just love showcasing children's books this way! Thank you to imperfectblog for the inspiration and idea!

this made my week!

last night

Chad and I finished the second season of Weeds last night and we both cannot wait for season three to be available at the library for pick-up. Such a cliff-hanger last episode! Hate that Peter guy! Then Chad went upstairs to finish watching the Canucks game (hello round 3 baby) and I finally watched "Lars and the Real Girl" (another library rental). Oh my this movie was crazy. It stars Ryan Gosling so that was really the only thing that drew me to it but it goes from wacky to weird to cute to weird again. Lars is an emotionally stunted 27 year old man who's mother died while giving birth to him. He is shy and has some issues with touching people, etc. so he orders a "love doll" to be his girlfriend. Because Lars is such an adorable character, the whole town rallies around him and his new "girlfriend" until Lars decides it is time for their relationship to end. I only sat through the whole movie to see the ending and it ended exactly the way I thought it would - with Lars getting the "real girl". Interesting concept and his brother and sister-in-law are AMAZING actors but other than that - not much of a winner for Ryan.
