it finally happened

Someone actually took time out of their day to complain about how much time I spend on Facebook. I had to be reminded today about "company policy" as well as "the employee handbook", etc. The fact that someone actually pays attention to how much time I spend on a social media site and that they took precious breath (or quite possibly precious energy typing an email) is amazing to me. At the time the time the comment was made I had so many feelings and emotions swimming through my body (anger, frustration, hatred, laughter) that I had to put this into writing. Let me just make this clear - my work Facebook page is attached to my personal account. I know, I know - stupid set up - but when I started using Facebook to promote work events and activities, I didn't know much about it and now I am waiting for a professional to help me switch it over to a new account without losing all the info, etc. So I am on Facebook the majority of the day to check on my work FB status'. Before I had a work page attached to my profile, I would check Facebook maybe once or twice a day and usually on my lunch break. If you go back far enough in my history you would know that. This is just another reason that I have placed in my "must-find-a-way-to-work-for-myself" jar. I strongly DISLIKE how people pay close attention to what I am doing.

a) it really is none of your business.
b) do you not have anything better to do with your time?
c) when did it become okay to bypass an employee and rat on them to their boss?
d) who does that?

Anywho - I am obviously still frustrated with this transaction and needed to vent. Complaints about my work ethic and productivity are few and far between but when they come, the sure to mess with my head and get my blood boiling. Ah well - onto bigger and better things. I have to remember my quote of the day:

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." ~ Mark Twain

I might have to buy this before we even think about getting pregnant! Chad would love for our little dill pickle to have this for school :)

the castaways

This was one of those "I-only-have-a-few-minutes-so-I-will-just-grab-based-on-the-cover-art" type of choices from the library. "The Castaways" by Elin Hilderbrand is about four couples who live in Nantucket and how their lives have intertwined since before they got married, had children, developed careers, etc. This story is a rollercoaster of emotions, tragedies, love and family. I actually sat in my car for an extra five minutes this morning when I got to the parking lot at work so I could hear the last bit of the CD. I highly recommend this emotional tale and can't wait to either read or listen to some of Elin's other treasures in the near future.

just finished ...

My husband calls Whitney Port horse face (similar to Sarah Jessica Parker - sorry ladies!) but I think Ms. Whit is a true delight. She is gorgeous in a "not-trying-too-hard-california-girl" type of way and she seems genuine and real. I loved her on The Hills and then loved her on The City. I am not a fashionista at all. I prefer a pair of jeans, a pair of flip flops and a t-shirt to anything else you could put me so I find her style (and stylings) to be quite loud and crazy and unwearable - for me - but there is just something about her that makes me smile. I pre-ordered her book at the library and got an email that my fresh, brand-new copy was ready for pick up. It took me about 2 days to read it cover to cover because it is filled with lists and photos and quotes, etc. but it had some really fun advice. I skipped a few pages here and there - especially the dating portion of the book because I think that now I am a Mrs, I have that covered :) The thing I truly loved about this book was the introduction pages at the beginning of each section. I read them as if I was having a conversation with Whitney about clothes, exercising, food, party planning ... I heard her voice throughout the whole guide book which to me - is a huge plus. Bonus for me (the editor in me from college can never die) is that I found only 1 mistake throughout the book. This book is a guide for the early 20-something set but having just celebrated my 32nd birthday, I enjoyed some of the tips and tricks and would recommend browsing this book to anyone who enjoys Whitney and doesn't think she has a horse face :)

why do sleeping patterns randomly change on us?

I woke up at 1:00 am this morning (technically in the middle of the night) and did not get back to sleep until 4:00 am and had to be up at 5:00 am for an event. Why or how does this happen? I have a lot on my mind right now - house renos, party planning details, work events, etc. But how in the world am I randomly up WIDE AWAKE on a random Tuesday/Wednesday night? If I lived on my own I probably would have gotten up and worked on a project but with Chad and Lexxus in the bed with me, my only real option is just to just toss and turn and wait it out.

I am feeling okay right now after my 6:30 am Business Breakfast Club event but I know before I get to take off at 1:30 pm this afternoon I am going to hit a wall. At least I have Heart to keep me smiling throughout my day!
Enjoy friends and I hope you all had a great night sleep - happy hump day!

heart at it again ...

why can't we have a three day weekend too?

Friday ... Did a bunch of running around and grocery shopping in Langley. Just a bunch of things checked off of our "to do" list which always feels great. Home for Shepherd's Pie, Wine and the "Green Hornet" which I fell asleep through (it was a great nap).

Saturday ... Up early for breakfast and puttering around the house. Chad was distracted by tons of reno projects so I got some stuff done in my office/craft room which always makes me happy. Then off to Tara and Aaron's Housewarming/Engagement party. So much wonderful food! Then off to Cory and Stacey's for a quick visit and cuddle with the twins.

Sunday ... Soccer game in Coquitlam which we killed - 6 to 0 - go Ninjas go! Home for a bath and finished "The Carrie Diaries". Made Indian for dinner and then watched a couple of episodes of "Burn Notice" before crashing early. As always - could add another day to my weekend and I would be a VERY happy camper!

monday morning update - happy valentine's day!

Friday ... Pedicures with my mom and lunch at Pasta Pollo with Mom and Grandma Donnelly. Then some running around with my mom (grocery shopping, etc.) and home for a relaxing bath and book. Then got ready for the birthday party/PartyLite get together which was a blast - tons of people showed and I got spoiled. Great food too.

Saturday ... Friday night our fridge started crapping out so we were up super duper early to buy a fridge. Looked at several places but finally got one from Coast. Home to wait for my parent's to show to help move the old and new fridge and then off to Alli and Rob's for Jaxon's adorable 1st birthday party. Only able to stay for about an hour because we were heading downtown (short stop at Ikea) for the Canucks game with dinner at Ricky's first - yummy and a great game!

Sunday ... Soccer game. We won 4-0 for our 2nd cup game - go Ninjas go! Then home for another bath, book and nap. Off to Home Depot and to confirm our PartyLite order and then home for Subway and "Sex and the City 2". Best birthday weekend ever!

oh heart!

yay - i'm 6 months old!

jaxon's cake smashing session sneak peak

just finished listening to ...

I am not sure how well this would translate into an actual novel but this was a delightful audiobook ... I didn't want to get out of my car most days because I just wanted to listen to the characters get the happy endings that they truly deserved.

monday morning update

Friday ... Sushi (we have not had sushi in forever and this place it is attached to a gas station but it was amazing) and watched "Jonah Hex" (Chad choice but surprisingly I enjoyed it).

Saturday ... Up early for renos and I had a ton of work to do in my craft room so got to work while watching "28 Days" on the computer. Then grocery shopping and to Chad's friend's place for a Hanky Panky Party - super fun. Then to Maverick's for Jarrod Mathers birthday party. Adam Roberts is now dating Chad's ex so when we showed up - the party died VERY quickly. Had some drinks with Jarrod and his wife and then home to bed at about 12:30 am - that is a very late night for us :)

Sunday ... Soccer game - we killed them 4 to 1 - it was awesome. Cupcakes and Bailey's and hot chocolate for my birthday with the team. Love those Ninjas! Then to my parent's for a bath, appies and the football game. Home to bed early. Still not feeling 100% - thinking allergies but it is just dragging on and on!

last night

We indulged in Haystacks and F*&% Cancer wine - a great combo on a cold February 1st night!

Chad's new after work job!

Bye bye mirrors ... hello painting project!

jay's hair mission

I need a new look but not sure if that is to be accomplished with colour or cut or both. Let me know your thoughts - would love to have your input friends! And yes I am a HUGE fan of Jenny McCarthy (so is my husband but I have to remind him that no matter what my fabulous hair dress does to my hair, I am never going to actually look like her!) Sorry - no credit for the photos but if one of these is your pic - just let me know! Thanks everyone!

I just like the layered look with the long bangs ... but bangs and I don't seem to every find a way to be friends.

I wish I could just go with my hair and let it fly free like this but I am a control freak. Okay, okay - I am working on it!

I fell in love with this little lady's wedding when I was in the planning process and just like how structured her cute short hair is.

Chad's vote ... of course :)

This is ALWAYS my hair goal but no matter what, it never turns out this way :(

Again with the light and layered look but I always make everything so straight, perfect and structured. Again - working on it people!
