Happy 2013 Friends! We had a fantastic New Year's Eve celebrating with good friends and delicious fondue. It was low-key and perfect. Today was my first day back in the office and it went really well - my boss even let us go a bit early to ease us back into the working schedule - ha ha. It helped :)
I've been thinking a lot about this year and what I want to accomplish. There is a lot of talk around the blog world about "One Word" - choosing one word that you focus on throughout the year. I have chosen two words: positive and gratitude. Whenever I am feeling down and out or stressed, I will focus on being positive and remember all that I am grateful for. I started doing this in 2012 and when I did, it made a huge difference for me. It's amazing that I have to make an effort to think positively in some situations and to remember to be grateful but life gets out of control from time to time - this helps me get back on track.
I have a list of personal goals for this year but these are my general resolutions - a little more and a little less:
- Save more.
- Blog more.
- Create more.
- Do more.
- Cook more.
- Attend more.
- Focus more.
- Write more.
- Decorate more.
- Judge less.
- Gossip less.
- Spend less.
What is your focus for 2013?
PS - We broke down Boxing Day Week and bought a new computer so this will really help me with blogging in 2013. Having a computer at home that works well makes all the difference and makes me happy!
I need to bite the bullet and buy a new laptop. I keep wanting to try a Mac, but I don't know if I can pay that much!! First world problem, I know.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I love your resolution goal list. I have a lot that are similar, and I dig the one word thing too. And I am with you on the gratitude thing - especially after all that has happened with my dad. we all need to take better care of ourselves cause I do not want to go through that again anytime soon!
ReplyDeleteI want to add one more resolution goal ... friend more. :) I want to get to know some people better because I think we have a lot in common. especially my ninjas. I say we plan a wine & cheese night or something soon!
I am trying to get more into blogging and have been thinking about it for a while - what I could do that would be meaningful to me, and helpful to others. I look forward to checking out your blog more!
Do it. Blog. So rewarding and therapeutic. I am a writer and when I write - I feel great. Kind of zen like. Do it - I would love to read your stuff. And yes, yes, YES - I would love a lovely casual Ninjas ladies night - I am 100% in agreement with you!
DeleteI have been writing for years in journals, but I like the social media aspect of a blog. I have done blogs for uni-projects, school related stuff, etc. but never truly considered doing it for myself. I tried last year when L was born, but to be honest I couldn't keep at it because I was so bloody busy taking care of her and myself that there was no time. We need to plan ninja-time!
